Audition Info
Musical Theatre
Once you have completed the initial application to the university, you will be contacted by our admin staff with information about the audition process for our Musical Theatre Diploma.
You will be asked to submit a transcript of your grades, a headshot and a resume.
Your resume can include musical theatre experience and any other experience in performance, the arts, sports and athletics, volunteer work, paid work, courses, education, clubs, awards, etc.
Musical Theatre experience is welcome but not required.
The headshot doesn’t need to be professional. Any photo that shows your face clearly will work.
All applicants who submit their transcript, headshot and resume will be invited to audition.
Step 1
You will receive the audition package.
It will contain detailed instructions of what to expect for either In-Person or Distance Auditions.
Both In-Person and Distance Auditioners will be asked to prepare:
one contemporary monologue from a selection we will provide.
one song from the Singers Theatre Musical Theatre Anthology.
a short piece of choreography and dance skills. (Instructional videos will be provided.)
You will be scheduled for your audition if you are auditioning in person.
Applicants applying by Distance will receive details regarding which elements will be sent by self-tape and/or scheduled by Zoom.
Step 2
Step 3
The Audition
For In-Person auditions, you will perform your monologue, song and choreography for a panel of CapU Theatre faculty. For the choreography portion, an instructor will be present to review the steps and provide guidance.
You will also be asked a few questions as part of an interview.
If you are applying by Distance, you may submit part or all of your audition by self-tape. You may be asked for a Zoom callback. Details will be included in the Audition Package.
We want to get to know you, both as a performer and also how you will fit into our program.
We look forward to meeting you!
